Pancakes, Pancakes
Pancakes, Pancakes
by Eric Carle
For ages 2-6 years
Departing from the subtle bedtime themes of so much of kids' literature, this book is best read in the morning. A weekend morning, if possible, or at least one that provides enough time for pancake making and eating. This is the tale of a little boy who hungers for pancakes so mightily that he patiently takes every step necessary to gather the ingredients himself. And we don't mean grabbing the Bisquick from the cupboard (or even, gulp, opening up the freezer). This lad picks and mills the flour, milks the cow, waits for the chicken to lay an egg, churns the butter, etc. (Yes, your child may not have had any idea so much goes into these tasty treats. And he still has to find a maple for the syrup!)
