Greetings from Washington State! June 27 – July 1 Washington State is home to many great people, places and things! This week we hope to scratch the surface of the past, present, and future symbols of our state. From icons like the Space Needle, Kingdome (you remember?), red apples, and coffee to famous people like Jimi Hendrix, Bing Crosby, and Dale Chihuly and so many more we have a lot to explore! We will take on the role as Washington state ambassadors. Imaginarium July 5 – 8 Program will be closed on Monday, July 4th. Curiosity rules this week! We are on a mission to uncover the inner workings of how things around us really work. For example, how do oysters make pearls? How does sand become glass? What keeps a boat afloat? Why are so many plants green? Come along for this week of exploration and investigation. Mind and Muscle July 11 – 15 The focus of the week will be on games! On a grassy field or on a table, games can be a lot of fun. Indoors or outdoors, games keep our bodies and minds in shape. We will re-visit old favorites and look at new trends. On Friday, July 15th we will have our first family BBQ and Summer Quest Game Challenge! Food and fun begins at noon! Animal Week July 18 – 22 Animals come in all sizes and shapes just like us. From your cuddly house pet to a water buffalo, or the tiniest arthropod to the blue whale. We will explore the creatures big and small that share the planet with us. In addition, we will explore the natural setting of wild animals around the world and right here in our own backyard (literally and figuratively). Artz-a-palooza July 25 – 29 We will create individual great works of art in various mediums, plus create at least one group art project. Explore art in architecture. Visit “cool” examples of art around our region. Learn about some of the “classics.” Possibly try our hand at edible art. We will display some of our creations Friday afternoon for a mini-gallery show at 2 p.m.
