Early Masters is a unique program that gives kids (ages 7-12) a true appreciation of some of the world’s greatest artists, while instilling a life-long interest in art. Children will learn about artist’s lives, their visions and techniques through a fun and hands-on program. Once kids have a general understanding of the artist’s work, they create their own art with watercolor, oils, collage, clay, and pastels. They also have the opportunity to work on cooperative pieces such as large-scale canvases. Children feel empowered when armed with knowledge that is typically perceived to be reserved for adults. They develop confidence in communicating as they are encouraged to discuss the content of the art work. Demystifying artists' lives and learning about their ideas and unique contributions to art gives children a sense of pride and accomplishment. The Early Masters studio is a cheerful, safe, and fun environment where children feel free to explore their own ideas. Classes are small to ensure the little Masters have lots of attention-- space will be limited.
