Fremont Community School is enrolling now for our Summer Freedom, an incredibly flexible program that focuses on art, creativity and free play for children ages 2 ½ through 5. Our program runs from June 3rd until August 30th. Additionally, FCS has Art Camps through the summer for children ages four to ten. Our morning session runs from 9am - 1pm (4 hour minimum). Afternoons 1 - 5pm (2 hour minimum). Art Camps are mornings from 9am - 1pm.
Our school is situated in an orchard of fruit trees, where our children spend most of the day playing in our harbor of ‘pirate ships’, digging in our garden, and splishing and splashing with buckets of water. Children help us gather fresh eggs from our chickens and pet the long ears of our rabbits; Oliver, our pig, rounds out our urban farm.
Inside we focus on imaginative play. Children dress up and construct “castles”, “caves” and “stages”, and invent long stories to accompany their creations. Teachers lead the children through arts and crafts, with a special focus on nature and natural fibers. Activities are always age appropriate.
As children often get hungry with so much creative and active play, we provide a warm organic snack for both morning and afternoon programs. Children bring their own (peanut-free) lunch, and sit together listening to stories from the teachers as they eat.
