2011 Nature Ramblers Summer Camp Brochure

Our Nature Ramblers Summer Camp is an environmentally based day camp for children ages 4 to 9. Each year, our skilled environmental educators lead over 400 children in an exploration of the natural world. Children learn about the environment through hands-on discoveries, hiking excursions, environmental art, wildlife programs, and field trips. Our counselors work with each child to foster his/her understanding of and appreciation of the natural world.

2011 Summer Adventure Treks

The Schuylkill Center’s Summer Adventure Treks promote personal growth and environmental stewardship through exploration and adventure. Our summer adventure treks will challenge pre-teens and teens to improve their outdoor knowledge and skills in a comfortable and supportive setting. Our campers learn more about themselves, strengthen their self-confidence, and gain teamwork skills while exploring the outdoors in unique and fun ways. Children are challenged in safe and fun environments, under the guidance of experienced instructors and outdoor guides.

Each trip begins on The Schuylkill Center’s picturesque grounds, which offer 350 acres of varied habitats. Campers get to know each other, then embark on age appropriate 3 or 5 day outings to State Parks and National Forests along the east coast. Days are spent exploring and participating in organized activities while evenings are spent by the campfire, reminiscing on the day’s adventures. Campers experience a wide variety of activities and ecosystems as each week’s destination and focus are changed. Activities include rock climbing, hiking, canoeing, kayaking, whitewater rafting, backpacking, caving, mountain biking, and more!

Because of their duration and intensity, all of our activities are specifically designed for adventurous youth.
