Bright Horizons’ Summer Programs Through discovery and exploration, your child will experience the summer of a lifetime, while enrolled in Our World Our Backyard, Bright Horizons’ signature summer program. Fun (and Learning) in the Sun Our teachers work collaboratively to develop a curriculum that focuses and takes advantage of all that the summer offers. Our staff uses our playgrounds and the surrounding community as an extension of the center, helping children to discover science and explore nature, creative art, and music, while learning about the vast opportunities in the world around them. These experiences include walking trips to local parks, libraries, zoos, or museums. We follow four essential rules when planning our excursions: The trip must be developmentally appropriate, safe, have educational value, and it must be fun! Building World Awareness Our curriculum includes a focus on issues that affect the earth and our environment. Our global focus is divided into five subunits, offering our teachers numerous opportunities to adapt the curriculum for any age group. The units are “Keeping Our World Healthy and Safe,” “Planet Juice Water,” “Nature As Art,” “Living Things Around Us,” and “In Touch With the World.” Guest Educators We also bring in guests for our younger children. Visitors such as petting zoos, local police and fire departments, magicians, musicians, and puppeteers are happy to come to the center. Our teachers are creative when planning activities for all age groups. Parents Can Join the Fun One of the integral parts of our summer program is the opportunity parents have to participate in their child’s summer experience. From chaperoning field trips to enjoying family events, we value and encourage our parent-teacher partnerships. Help your child see the world as an invitation to learn and grow.
