Lower Camp (ages 4-8): Our first and second sessions are both designed to offer children an opportunity to explore the city and its vast resources, and to learn and play in a relaxed setting. The children will use air-conditioned classrooms that are equipped with challenging and enriching materials for early childhood and elementary-school-aged children, including art, block building, woodworking, games, reading, music, dramatic play, as well as time on the roof, the deck, the gym and in the nearby Riverside Park. Each Lower Camp group has a weekly trip day.
Upper Camp (ages 8-14): The Upper Camp is uniquely designed to meet the needs of middle school children, ages 8-14. Campers may choose from a variety of exciting program offerings. Each program will have a focus, and will also participate in unit and camp programs, including swimming, field trips, and games.
Upper Camp swims at the Barnard College pool during Session 1, and at a private pool in Riverdale during Session 2. Each group swims twice a week with the option of having an additional swim on Wednesdays. During their semiweekly swim, half of the time is spent on instruction, while the other half is organized free swim.
