Pied Piper Summer Day Camp

413 West 46 Street
Manhattan, NY 10036

The Pied Piper Summer Day Camp provides recreational, social, and educational enrichment for children ages 5 to 12. The camp runs for 8 weeks in July and August and serves up to 125 children each year. Weekly thematic programming is incorporated into off-site trips, competitions and activities. In-house activities include ceramics, computer workshops, storytelling, games, movies, sports, arts and crafts, competitions and literacy-enhancement projects. Full-day and half-day field trips include destinations such as the Bronx Zoo, American Museum of Natural History, Harlem Lanes, NY Aquarium and Bear Mountain Park.

The camp’s innovative and varied program also helps to combat summer learning loss, which has been identified by researchers as an important educational issue. Hartley House’s Pied Piper Summer Day Camp is licensed by the City of New York’s Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.

The counselors are mostly hs seniors and college freshmen -- many of whom have attended the camp themselves. There is definitely a community feel. They do not offer swimming only sprinkler action, they do trips once a week and cool themes every two weeks like Fashion thru the Decades. They reward the campers every two weeks with Camper of the Week awards and special treats if they win a theme week. Really great camp!
