NIDC operates a summer camp for students who just completed grades K-5 at St. Lucy’s School on the corner of Bronxwood and Mace. Camp registration begins in late April/early May. The program has 200 free slots and 50 additional slots for ACS vouchers or a fee. The program operates from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday, for eight weeks in July and August. SUMMER PROGRAM: Summer campers are taken to Lasker Pool in Central Park to swim twice a week. Each week they have a trip to a major destination like a museum or the Coney Island Aquarium. And they also go to smaller destinations once a week, like a puppet show in a nearby park or to the local library for story hour. “In house” days focus on keeping their reading and math skills sharp, doing crafts, and other activities typical of summer camp.
