Instructors for The Pier Aquarium's Marine Science Summer Camps will incorporate environmental and historical themes into each day's educational and recreational activities. Each day will include scientific exploration, field trips on floating classrooms, games, marine-related arts and crafts and snacks. These unique camps focus on St. Petersburg's shores, freshwater habitats and coastal island environments. Hands-on, real-life marine science activities for each theme camp may include: beach laboratory investigations, estuary exploration, hiking through wetlands, animal care, dolphin training, kayak eco-tours through the Bay, snorkeling, seining on the sea grass beds, data collection, stewardship, building a remote underwater vehicle and interacting with scientists in the field. Camps are scheduled from 9am-5pm Monday-Friday. There is a $25/hr. fee for before and after care. Other camps that will be offered are two Art Camps, Water Art I (ages 6-8) and Water Art II (ages 8-13) that will offer exciting, environmental art projects with artists, special guest instructors, field trips and fun hands-on art time.
