Welcome! The First Tee of San Jose is a life skills program which builds the character of youth to help them succeed in life. We make the game of golf accessible to all youth, regardless of background. Participants learn to appreciate diversity, resolve conflicts, build confidence and set goals for their future. Our life skills curriculum focuses on four life skills categories — interpersonal skills, self-management, goal-setting, and resilience skills — and Nine Core Values — honesty, integrity, sportsmanship, respect, confidence, responsibility, perseverance, courtesy and judgment.

Has your child told you that they want to be the next Tiger Woods and takes golf more seriously than anything else in their life? Do you want your child schooled in golf like an Eastern Block cold war Olympic athlete? If so, this organization is for you. If your school age child may want to try to have some fun hitting a golf ball with a golf club then GO ELSEWHERE! I thought my child may have fun taking lessons. Instead, written homework for all ages is required (as young as second grade). My child did not want to do it. I told the instructor who told me and the other children that it is optional to go onto the On Course (as in playing on the actual golf course) play. Fine, let's say your child has no interest in going on course and instead just wants to hit the ball and have fun and a few lessons. This optional homework is still required. So do you want all of the joy sucked out of your child so any interest they had in the game is gone? Classes at Palo Alto GC & Rancho del Publo GC.
