The three sessions of our 2011 summer program aim to advance students' artistic development through: advanced training in ballet and modern technique by a stellar faculty; the study of William Forsythe's Improvisational Technologies and Ohad Naharin's Gaga movement language, as well as selected pieces from their respective repertories; and the development of new works with Alex Ketley, Christian Burns, Alessio Silvestrin, Bobbi Smith, and guest artists (to be announced). While Mssrs. Forsythe and Naharin are perhaps best known internationally as ground-breaking choreographers, they independently developed Improvisational Technologies and Gaga over the course of many years as proprietary systems to help dancers expound upon and refine their choices as movers and thinkers. The opportunity for dancers to gain in-depth exposure to their teachings is rare, and we are delighted to welcome back their personal representatives Mr. Silvestrin and Ms. Smith. Technique classes in all sessions will be taught by Summer Lee Rhatigan, Chiharu Shibata, Tristan Ching, and Mssrs. Ketley and Burns; and much new choreography will be developed.
