Learn effective leadership skills that can be used throughout your life and learn how to work with children at camp and in many other settings. CILTs meet at the beginning of the day and the end of the day and complete training modules and activities that teach leadership skills as they apply to working in a camp setting. At these meetings CILTs also discuss strategies for working with younger children. The rest of the day the CILT is assigned to instructors and group leaders to assist with campers at Explorer Camp (ages 5-6), or Blue Camp (ages 7-13). This gives them the opportunity to practice their new skills. This program is for young people who are highly motivated, ready to work and play hard, and who demonstrate additional responsibility in accepting the challenges of leadership. While not required, it is recommended that applicants have leadership experience or experience working with children. There are a limited number of spaces and an application is required. Not all who apply are accepted into the program. Blue Camp requires CILTs to attend from 8:30am - 4:30pm. Explorer CILTs attend from 8:45am - 4:00pm.
