When the El Paso and Southwestern Railroad wanted a right-of-way into the Old Pueblo in 1914, they offered to build the city's first YMCA. The city fathers accepted the exchange, a move that has served Tucson well over the years. From that original site at the corner of Congress and Court, the YMCA immediately began developing healthful and wholesome programs for young men.
