What a Dizzying Peek into the Preschool Social World!
Figuring out who you are by yourself, with your friends, in the world, with people like you and different from you -- it's often in the navigating of these relationships that we best understand the great fun and great challenges of the growing years.
This month at Being Savvy has been another jam-packed one, and you all have been especially interested in our tour of the social and emotional world of preschoolers and their parents. Looking back, we certainly considered a ton of topics together:
- the essentials of starting school
- reminding ourselves why socialization is so much of what preschool learning is all about and what socializing means to our little ones
- the delights and the challenges of playdates and birthday parties
- the fickle world of preschool friendships, both real and imaginary -- and expert insight on how best to parent your way through these fledgling friendships
- expert advice on seeing the world from the perspective of the shy child
- the great fun of preschool buddy stories and games to play with your preschool pals
- what is learned from sharing lunchtime with your classmates -- and how to survive dinnertime with your family with manners tips for all!
- resources for making a big move with your bewildered little one in tow
- tips on how to talk to your child about differences in his world
- a reminder of how essential it is for rookie moms (which means all of us, really) to get together with their friends too
- diplomacy skills for the preschool set, and particularly in the world of learning to share -- and expert tips on creative problem-solving
- why strangers can also be aunties, in this village of child rearing
- the best ways of bringing siblings together, from minimizing squabbles to doing fun things with kids of different ages
- inspiration and perspective on becoming the parent we want to be to our children and their friends, watching friendships grow, the magic of being us two -- and why hug-o-wars would solve so much!
