I have a book by Peter H. Reynolds called Ish. It is a sweet and simple story about an artist who finds his true audience, but only after some disappointment and self doubt. I actually have the version in Spanish, called Casi. He has another sotry, The Dot, that is about perspective when it comes to art. Great springboards for creative little preschool minds.

One of my daughter's favorite books is "Katie meets the Impressionists" by James Mayhew. In the story a little girl climbs in and out of paintings at the art museum and interacts with the people in the paintings. It is a great story that I can read over and over without getting tired of it.

This isn't an art book, per se, but Flat Stanley is a fun choice for older kids. In the book, Stanley hides in a museum painting (a portrait, of course) to catch a burglar. My daughter thought this was hilarious, especially since Stanley had to dress up as a girl. When we finished the book, she was very excited to go our museum. We walked through the portrait gallery to see how Stanley might have looked in some of those paintings.
