It strikes us that one of the best ways to be in tune with your little one's artistic life is to see life as just that: artistic.
We hear "art project" and we visualize a giant roll of butcher paper and four open, drippy jars of tempera paint. Gulp. What about a little something creative that gets parents through a tight spot? A tight spot like all the waiting we ask our little ones to do -- waiting while the traffic slows, while the airplane waits on the tarmac, while dinner cooks, while Mommy finds her other shoe, which was last seen on little sister's foot during dress-up...
Here are some Mom-saver ideas that get us through:
And some of our favorite Savvy activities that make waiting and traveling time fly:
One of the coolest things we've found for pre-meal entertainment in restaurants are Wikki Stix. These are waxy colorful strings that you can bend into all kinds of different shapes - kind of like pipe cleaners, but smaller and not fuzzy. They stick to each other, and to paper, but they aren't really messy or sticky (they don't get on little hands). You can find them online at www.wikkistix.com - but I've also seen them in large craft stores.
My kids love Etch a Sketch at home, in the car or when we are running errands. It is one of those oldie but goodies to have around. They come in all sizes and are very portable and entertaining!
Angie's Giggles keeps my kids going threw the day. Angie keeps the kids all on a very tight time schedule, but can be also very relaxed. She has a huge play area for the kids, a big yard for the kids to run and play. Inside is very clean and organized. Her rooms for the kids are very colorful and the kids love it. I know Angie does everything she can do plus some. You can tell kids are her life. Thank You Angie for being number one for our kids. We wouldn't go any where else. Thanks, A Proud Parent from Angie's Giggles
My little artist loves her Magna Doodle. We have a very small one for the airplane, a medium size one for the car and a large one for the house. It really keeps her occupied and drawing with no mess!
