Because a Great Book ... Is Tasty!
Or maybe it's just that you finished up another great book with your little one -- and this one too was about food! For all the stories of talking firetrucks and can't-stop-dancing hippos on those groaning shelves, we'd be willing to wager that there are a good number of stories about lunch. Or supper. Or cooking. Or eating, any old time or way.
So, in celebration of family gatherings centered around food, tomorrow and every day, here are some of our tastiest Savvy picks for books that will make your stomach growl:
Eating the Alphabet -- the board book format is especially nice for wee ones who might be inclined to take a bite directly out of the pages featuring those lovely leeks and lemons, radishes and raspberries. The prettiest, yummiest alphabet book we know.
Bread and Jam for Frances -- the classic tale of why one ought to be open-minded in one's likes and dislikes at the table. (Secret ingredient: Best version of all is the audiobook read aloud by Glynis Johns.)
Salad People and More Real Recipes -- a perfect first cookbook for you and your little sous-chef, engaging and successful and delicious for all!
My First Book of Sushi -- warning: this darling little book (and the outings that it will no doubt spark) may have your little one announcing that sushi is her favorite food! This is often alarming both to grandparents and to parental food budgets!
Pancakes, Pancakes -- because breakfast is the happiest, most luxurious meal for families to laze through at home!
Yum!
