Activity Detail
Who needs to go to the forest or the beach for a camping trip? Take your tents to the backyard and experience a night under the stars. Put some hot cocoa in a thermos and bring out some special treats, such as s'mores cookies. Tell stories around an outdoor lantern. Sing lots of silly summer camp songs from your childhood. Just don't forget to turn off the sprinkers!

Fantastic summertime activity with all the conveniences of being "close to home." If you have a movie projector, a favorite film can also be projected onto a bare fence or wall for entertainment.

For those city dwellers with no outdoor space, a 'camp out' in your living room would work too!

My kids love to do this with their cousins while visiting during the summer. They don't actually spend the night outside, but they have fun nonetheless. We even set up some warming candles and let the kids make real s'mores with soaked bamboo skewers.
