When I need to distract my two-year-old twins while waiting at the doctor's office, on an airplane, or when we're at home, we play a game we call "oodles of doodles." I grab a pen and paper or, even better, a magnetic doodle pad and draw an animal, trees, flowers, a house, etc. and have the kids guess what I'm drawing. They love guessing right. They also delight in asking me to draw things they want.
Materials Needed: Pen, paper or magnetic doodle pad (like Magna Doodle or Doodle Pro)
Ages: 2-4 year olds
This activity is also great for restaurants where the tables are covered with paper and they give you crayons.

We found that the kids really wanted to do their own doodling, but after they made a shape or squiggle, we took a turn, and made it into a different drawing. Try using two different colored pens so that you can see which part of the drawing is the child's and which is the parent's.
