Everlasting snowballs

Plastic shopping bags scissors Elmers or other white glue fishing line or strong transparent thread

Activity Detail

This is a great way to "recycle" those plastic grocery store shopping bags. You'll have to do this first part yourself: use scissors to cut plastic bags into very thin (1/4") strips - 2 or 3 bags should be plenty. It should look almost shredded. Place these in a large bowl and set aside. Take another plastic bag and scrunch it into a fist-sized ball, wrapping the ball tightly with fishing line or transparent thread. Secure the thread by taping it down or by tying it off, but be sure to leave one end long and dangling (you'll use this end to hang your finished snowball). Have your child liberally paint the ball with Elmers glue. When it's completely coated, let your child roll the ball in the plastic shreds until it's completely covered. Hang your creation up to dry and enjoy!
