Corncob Prints
ages 2-6
Supplies
Ears of corn (can be fresh or dried), liquid tempera paint, baking sheet, paper
Activity Detail
This is a great seasonal art activity. Pour some paint into a baking sheet, and take the husk off of an ear of corn. Have your child grab each end of the corncob and roll the corn in paint until it's completely covered. Then have your child roll the ear of corn back and forth or in different directions on a piece of paper. You can repeat this process with additional colors on the same ear of corn (which mixes the colors) or you can use a new one. See what great patterns your child can come up with!
Comments
Your child could also cut and glue on the husks.

What fun and what a mess! Don't forget to put down lots of newspaper and wear painting smocks for this one.

My son always wants to help mommy and daddy paint rooms in our house, so this is a great way to let him "roll" paint, without redecorating our walls! I'm going to try this soon. I'm thinking corn cob holders will elimate some of the mess!
