Homemade Playdough
ages 2-6
Supplies
4 cups flour, 2 cups salt, 4 cups water with food coloring in it, 2 tablespoons + 1 teaspoon cream of tartar, 2 tablespoons cooking oil, saucepan.
Activity Detail
Mix together the flour, salt, water, food coloring, cream or tartar, and cooking oil in a large saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly. Cook until the mixture forms a large 'ball' and pulls away from the sides of the pan. Remove the ball from the heat. Once it is cool to touch, knead it until it is smooth. Your playdough will then be ready for playtime or it can be stored it in an airtight container for future use.

Kids love getting to make their own play-dough! My kids love to pick out the colors and then get their hands messy while squishing it all together.

i just made this for my 1 & 2 year old. they love. hint: instead of haveing alot of one color i made the batch with out adding the food coloring when it cooled i split the batch into as many colors as i was going to make. the batch will yeald 6-7 cup of dough

I work at a day care and in florida they arent allowed to use play dough or at least where the town I live in but this one is all home made and non toxic! Im gonna see if I can do it!

It's too salty to eat (well, after the first mouthful).
