Fruit Stamps
ages 2-6
Supplies
Nontoxic, washable liquid paint; paper; oranges, lemons or apples; disposable bowls; plastic cover for table
Activity Detail
Your preschooler will love making creative designs using ordinary foods. Cut oranges, lemons, or apples in half, and pour nontoxic, washable liquid paint into small shallow bowls. Dip fruit into paint and stamp onto paper. You can also try this with leaves, carrots, corn on the cob, potatoes, etc. Another variation would be to let your child design her own wrapping paper or make gift bags or cards.
Comments
You can cut the fruit into holiday shapes too. For example, cut the potato into a Christmas tree or an apple into hearts for Valentines Day.

My boys love to make food stamp art! This is fun to do on a rainy day or even in your garage you can roll out brown paper to make wrapping paper for gifts!

While this idea has great potential, I wasn't sure how to cut the fruit yo get the best print: lengthwise or crosswise? Also, how would I cut corn or a carrot?
