Fall Wreath
ages 1-6
Supplies
Leaves, acorns, pine cones; brown paint and paper plates; glue; raffia (optional)
Activity Detail
Cut the center out of a paper plate and have your child paint the paper plate brown; this will be the base for the wreath. Next, go for a walk to find leaves, acorns, and pine cones -- these will be the substance of the wreath. Once the plates have dried, give your child some white glue and let him or her have fun gluing the nature finds onto the wreath base. (After the kids are in bed, I use the hot glue gun to re-glue any loose pieces and attach a raffia bow.) Your child now has a unique fall decoration to hang on his bedroom door.

I like this idea, and think it would work well in the springtime too, with flowers, etc.
