Counting a Silly Walk

ages 2-6

Activity Detail

Take a walk with your child. Make up some silly steps to do together. Examples: Take two large steps and three tiny steps counting 1,2 - 1,2,3 - 1,2 as you go. You'll have fun, get some exercise, and practice counting -- all at the same time.

This activity is worth doing with younger kids who are just learning to count. But since the ages it's appropriate for seem to include five and six, I think it could be developed more to include, for example, counting by 5's and 10's. An older child already knows how to count by and could get bored by such a simple activity.

This is not meaty enough for the site.
