Making Faces

ages 0-2

Activity Detail

A fun way to teach your baby about emotions is to make faces and say what each one is. Grin a huge grin and say "happy face," an exaggerated frown and say "sad face." Stick your tongue and roll or blink your eyes for "silly face." There's also angry, sleepy, shy, proud, confused, and any other emotion you can act out.

This is a pretty basic idea but it's the sort of think that may not occur to a parent to do naturally so that makes it useful. It's a nice way to entertain a baby without needing toys in a pinch.
