Can't Catch Me, I'm The Gingerbread Man!

ages 3-6

Gingerbread man cookies, extra gumdrops and raisins

Activity Detail

Kids love to try to find this quick little guy, and this activity is a great way to teach problem solving skills and work on reading. Begin by making up clues to several locations in the house ("Run, run, as fast as you can to the place where you eat your lunch"). At each location, leave a part of the Gingerbread Man (his gumdrop buttons or a picture of his scarf) with the next clue. At the end of the "chase," everyone can eat the delicious gingerbread cookie he has caught.

This activity is a lot of fun if you happen to need to entertain a bunch of kids around the same age. Since problem-solving skills vary, to avoid meltdowns etc., it's best, if you can, to gear this to same-age kids. Otherwise, it's lots of fun and a great way to encourage problem-solving for kids.
