Cornflake Wreaths

ages 3-6

3 tablespoons of margarine, 10 ounce bag of mini-marshmallows, 6 cups of cornflakes, green food coloring, red hots

Activity Detail

To make the wreaths, melt butter and marshmallows in a saucepan until smooth. Mix in a few drops of green food coloring -- enough to get the color wreath you want. Then add the cornflakes and stir until the cornflakes are fully coated in the marshmallow mixture. Spread out the cornflake mixture on a cookie sheet. Once it has cooled, mold cornflakes in a small wreath-shape circle. Add red hots for berries. A fun activity and delicious treat!

Children love to make Christmas treats! This would be a perfect thing to make and bring to neighbors during the holidays.

Most kids would not refuse a chance to play with their food, or for that matter, eat a sugary snack, so this has plenty of kid-appeal. Just make sure to supervise closely since you could wind up with a sticky mess if you turn your back for more than a minute or two.

When handling the mixture, use vegetable oil spray or butter on your and your child's hands to prevent sticking.
