Handprint Wreath

Supplies
Green paper or card stock, scissors, paper plate, glue, glitter glue, red ribbon, pen
Activity Detail
Trace your child's hand onto green construction paper or card stock. Cut out 10 - 12 individual hand shapes, allowing older children to help if they are able to use scissors. Gently fold a paper plate in half and cut out the center, leaving a circular outer ring. Glue the paper handprints around the paper plate rim. Decorate with glitter glue and a red ribbon. Be sure to write the year and the child's age on the back.

This is a nice way to both create a remembrance of how small your child's hands once were and to celebrate the Christmas holiday. Instead of tracing your child's hand, another possibility,especially for younger kids, would be to have them make handprints using green paint and then cut those out.

The wreath could also be used as a frame by leaving the middle of the plate intact and asking your child to draw holiday pictures on it. This would make a great gift for grandma!
