Mix and Match Faces

ages 2-6

Supplies

Old magazines, photocopies of family photos, glue, scissors, cardboard (optional)

Activity Detail

Cut out several faces -- pictures from magazines, pictures of family members, and/or pictures of animals. Then cut them in half lengthwise (this usually works better if you mount the faces on cardboard or cardstock first). Mix up all of the faces in a big pile and see if your child can find the matches. Sometimes, though, the mismatches are just as fun!

This idea is great for its simplicity alone since it can be done easily with items you already have at home. It's especially great for younger kids who are learning to match and are developing a sense of humor to see the silliness of not making the right match.
