Helping Game

ages 2-6

Activity Detail

Kids love to be helpers. Next time you're working in the kitchen or doing chores around the house, get your child involved. Give them a task that is manageable, one step at a time, and help them learn to be more self-sufficient and responsible in the process. My kids help by bringing me things that I need, measuring spoonfuls of ingredients, sorting laundry by color, and folding napkins into squares, rectangles, and triangles. There are learning opportunities all around -- we just have to find them!

It is so true kids love to help - and sometimes we overlook that.

I love that this is on the website because we often loose site of how much value simply including our children in everyday activities can add to their day. My son only 4 helps with all kinds of things and while it may take me a few minutes more, he has enjoyed helping mommy, learning something new and feeling proud that he has contributed. This is so much better than telling him I just don't have time because I have too much to do! Let them help whenever possible- besides eventually they'll be able to take on some chores by themselves too.

Kids love to help, if only to be involved in what's going on around them. This is a great way to get them involved, and to teach them to do their share to keep the house running. It's certainly cleaner than letting them help cook... MiniHipster.com
