All About My Family Book

ages 3-6

Supplies

White paper (to be cut into 4x6 sheets), photographs, small photo album, markers, crayons, or colored pencils

Activity Detail

Create a "book" about your family. Take pictures of the people in your family, your pets, your home, your cars...anything that your child feels is a part of your family. Cut white paper into 4x6 sheets. Arrange the photos into a small 4x6 photo album, leaving a page between each photo. Show your child each of the pictures. On a separate sheet of white (4x6) paper, have them draw something that reminds them of that person (glasses because Daddy wears glasses, or hearts because mommy always gives the best hugs). Repeat this process until each photo has a hand drawn picture to go along with it. This will become a favorite keepsake for both you and your child.

What a great keepsake idea! And what a great gift to give to mom, dad, or grandparents for the holidays. In addition to drawing a picture, you could also write words that describe each person (kind, generous, etc.), or write what you are most thankful for about each person.

This is a great activity to get your kids talking and thinking about their family. It's definitely one of those projects you'll want to keep for years to come.

This also would be a great thing for a kid who is starting preschool to take with them and look at for those times when they miss their family.
