Cooking with Pirate's Booty

ages 1-3

Whisk, mixing bowl, Pirate's Booty

Activity Detail

Give your child a mixing bowl and a whisk. Then pour a small amount of Pirate's Booty in the bowl and tell your to "cook." For younger children, it's fun to show them how to mix the Booty and take pieces and put them inside the whisk. While you are cooking, this little game may get you 15-20 minutes of cooking time while they "cook" along side you.

I think I might opt for making my own mixture of snacks as opposed to buying something already put together that comes out of a bag. You put some of your child's favorites in small bowls and they can measure and pour right alongside you while they stir and whisk. You could use popcorn, goldfish, pretzels, raisins, peanuts, dried cranberries or other diced dried fruit. Be sure to save the sweet stuff like chocolate chips or M & M s for last (if you choose to include them at all), or they might eat them all up before the "cooking" is done!
