Touring a Fire Station

ages 2-6

Activity Detail

Contact your local Fire Station and ask if they give tours. Most fire stations will provide tours for children and will tailor the tour to the age of the children attending. This is a great group activity! Many stations will even allow you to have a birthday party at their facility for a small donation.

I know several friends who have used this as a playdate activity. The kids really seemed to enjoy it. Check out some related books at your local library to help prepare the childrne for the visit. Take a plate of fresh cookies to thank the firefighters for the job they do. Also, be aware that some children might be frightened by the big trucks, the lights, and the sirens.

We took a tour of our local fire station last week with my 3 year old daughter's play group and she loved it. They even got to squirt the hose! She also learned a lot about fire safety.

For kids who love fire trucks, there might not be a better way to spend a morning or an afternoon.

This is a creative idea and would be a good idea to do on a playdate.

My kids just went to a birthday party at the fire station and loved it . They let the kids tour the station and truck, meet the fire dog, see the fire pole, and teach them about fire safety. It was hard to believe it was free!
