Singing Memories

ages 2-4

Your voice, on or off key.

Activity Detail

Here's a fun way I have to help my toddlers remember holidays, visits with family, or outings in the city. I make up songs about each memorable event. You don't have to sing on key to get your kids hooked on these personal songs. You can either create one song and keep adding verses or create different songs with different tunes for each event.

We used the chorus from one of our son's favorite songs to reward him when he used the potty - he still sings the "potty song."

Would have been nice to have a sample verse just to get an idea of the song.

I have found that putting things to a tune helps my daughter learn things more quickly, and certainly makes it more fun. We did this when she was learning to count to 10, and she still counts to our special tune sometimes. It's also fun just to make-up little love songs for each other.
