Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow

ages 4-6

Small canning jars, plastic or ceramic figurines, sand paper, clear drying epoxy, water, glitter, glycerin

Activity Detail

To make your own snow globe, first sand the inside of the lid of your jar until it's rough. Then, adhere the figurines with clear drying epoxy and let dry. Next, fill the jar with water until almost full. Sprinkle glitter and a pinch of glycerin (this makes the glitter go slower) into the water. Secure lid tightly onto jar and turn over. A friend did this as the craft for a birthday party and the kids loved it!

My son made a snow globe without the figurine, but with loose sand and shells. Easier and just as fun!

The possibilities are endless with this activity! It would be fun to add a bit of food coloring to tint the water. These would make cute gifts from your child to relatives or teachers during the holidays.
