"I Want" Bank!

ages 3-6

Coffee can, magazines or store fliers, glue

Activity Detail

Do you ever get tired of hearing your kids say "I want ..."? Make a simple bank with an empty coffee can. Have your child cut out pictures of what they want and glue them to the outside of the can. (Be sure to save room for future "want" pictures.) Be sure to talk about the difference between "wants" and "needs." That can be a hard thing for preschoolers to remember (and grown-ups sometimes, too).

This activity goes along well with learning to save your allowance and learning to count money.

This is an interesting craft. The activity can be further described as the kids would save money in the bank and can use the money towards the objects they want or need.
