Earth Light Catcher

ages 3-6

Supplies

Picture of the earth, glue, blue food coloring, green food coloring, paintbrush, paper clip, yarn, wax paper

Activity Detail

Find a picture of the earth online. It can be a color image or black and white. In a small cup, tint some glue blue with a few drops of food coloring. In another cup, tint some glue green with a few drops of food coloring. Give your child a small paintbrush and help her paint the land with the green glue and the ocean with the blue glue. When you've finished covering the earth with glue, bend a paperclip and lay it at the top of the picture so that one end is in the glue. Cover the picture with a piece of wax paper and let it dry for several days. When it is dry, peel the wax paper off the earth image, tie a piece of yarn through the paperclip, and hang it in a window. What a great way to celebrate Earth Day!
