Love You to My Toes

ages 2-5

Construction paper, paint, pens, crayons

Activity Detail

Dip the bottom of your child's foot in paint and place the foot on construction paper (white paper works best). Let the paint dry. Once dry, draw stems from each toeprint to the ball of the footprint, and then draw petals around each toeprint. The finished product should look like a vase of flowers. To turn this into a Mother's Day or Father's Day gift, write a message on the paper, like "I love you from my head to my toes!" Be sure to write the date on the back.

If you've got a squirmy overly active kid (like me) it's kind of hard to figure out how to "dip their foot in paint" to create a print without making a total mess. I would have loved some pointers on how to do that, especially in a small apartment with few options for really spreading out and making a mess.

What a cute idea! It is great for little ones who aren't able to draw yet as well as for preschoolers who can draw the petals themselves.
