Pack-n-Play: Packing for an Adventure

ages 2-5

Backpack or small bag, clothes or toys

Activity Detail

Have your child pack a backpack, small suitcase, or any available bag for 'taking a trip.' They can pack whatever they think they'll need - socks, jammies, toys, toothbrush. Take the bag to a pretend destination. What will you do there? Did you pack everything you need?

My son regularly packs his backpack for a trip to Granny's house. It's hilarious what he considers necessary for the trip.

I love this idea. I have been thinking about having my son help to get his stuff together for our next days activities- going to the gym, pool, playgroup or school. I feel like I am always packing and repacking. I wasn't sure if he was too young, but if we start by packing for a pretend adventure he'll start to think about what he needs and eventually I can transition him into packing his "real" bags.
