Just for Dad: A Father's Day Word Photo Frame

ages 2-6

4x6 photo, 8x10 picture frame, card stock or poster board, glue or tape, markers

Activity Detail

This activity is a great memento to remind Dad of all the fun things he and the kids do together. Start with a 4x6 photo of your children with Dad. You will also need an 8x10 picture frame, and a piece of light colored card stock or poster board cut to fit inside the frame. Tape or glue the picture in the center of the card stock. This should leave a wide border of paper all the way around the photo. With your children, make a list of all the fun things they enjoy doing with Dad. The list could include sports, a family trip, a favorite TV show, going to the park together, a game they like to play, a favorite book, etc. About 10-15 items works well, and each item should be summed up into about 3 words or less. Next, using colored markers, write each of the items on the paper surrounding the picture. It is fun to write the words in different colors, going different directions, and in different sizes to create a word collage around the photo. When you are finished, place the paper in the frame and wrap it up for Dad. He will love to put it on his desk at work!

Great idea for those hard to shop for dads!! Good use of 8x10 frames that can be found on sale too.

This sounds like it would be a special snapshot of your child's relationship to dad. I can't wait to try it out!
