Fire Engine Shapes

ages 2-4

Supplies

Construction paper, scissors, glue

Activity Detail

All kids love bright red fire engines. Use this activity to help your child make one of his own and learn his shapes at the same time. Begin by giving your child pre-cut red rectangles and circles. Let him move the shapes around until he thinks it looks like a fire engine. You can also cut out some some lines for the ladder rungs, circles for the lights, and small rectangles for the windows. You might also cut out some shapes to make houses and trees to complete the picture.

There is a really fun song by Greg and Steve called "firetruck" that would be really fun to accompany an activity like this.

If you have a very small picture of your child, you can cut out just the face and put it in one of the windows. Your child will delight in seeing himself driving the fire engine!
