Toddler Charades

ages 2-6

Activity Detail

My 3-year old loves playing this simplified version of charades. Imitate an animal or object and have your child guess what you are. Alternatively, imitate an activity and have your child guess what you're doing. Take turns. Be sure to explain to your child that there should be no talking!

After acting out animals, we tried kitchen appliances and different types of vehicles. It was a hit!

I love this idea and can't wait to try it out with my daughter. It's a great way to involve the whole family, and is sure to create laughter and fun memories.

One way to modify this for emergent readers is to make flash cards with different (animal) words on them. Place 2-4 cards on the floor and act out one of the words and have the child point to the word you are acting out! You could also use stuffed animals, small toys etc. and just pick up the object that matches the word you want them to find.
