What's the 411? Important Information about Where You Live

ages 2-6

Supplies

Construction paper, markers, photo of your house, picture of your state

Activity Detail

Take a picture of your house and paste it on a piece of construction paper (older children can help with this). Cut out a picture of your state and paste it on the paper as well. Then write out your full address, city, state, and telephone number. If you have space, include a few emergency phone numbers. This will help your child learn important information that they should know. Display the project on your refrigerator so that there are plenty of opportunities to see it.

This will help all children, especially visual learners, to remember this important information. It could also be a good reference for your child, in case they ever need to call for help.

This is a nice learning activity though I think for younger kids, at least, it should be kept as basic as possible, without any added emergency numbers etc.

This is a fun and creative way to teach a child vital information. I love the idea of using photos of the house and state so that the child can associate the information with an image.

For older kids you can add state symbols as well to help them learn more about where they live!

You can also use this as an opportunity to learn where your city is located within your state and where other important places in the state are (e.g. We live in this city, and your grandparents live in this city).
