List Your Day

ages 3-6

Supplies

Special "Our Day" notebook, pen

Activity Detail

Here is a behavior management strategy that is working well with my almost-5-year-old. After a few episodes of eye rolling and loud sighing on my daughter's part, I decided we needed a way to document our days and how much of them were filled with things she wanted to do, not just my chores. At the beginning of the day, we write a list together of what our day will look like. As we complete each thing, she gets to cross it off the list as "completed." Then she can look forward to the next fun thing instead of grumbling about my chores! For younger children, you could draw pictures or find clip art on the computer.

Sometimes I don't want the kids to know how many errands we are going to do that day--sometimes it depends on the day/behavior so not for me, but others may like it!
