Crushed Chalk Art Work

ages 2-6

Elmer's glue, chalk (crushed), paper, cookie cutters, hairspray.

Activity Detail

First crush a variety of colors of sidewalk chalk (best if done without child's assistance). Place a layer of Elmer's glue in cookie cutters to make shapes. Once the shapes have been made with the glue, have your child pour the crushed chalk over glue shapes. Shake off excess chalk to see the creations! To help dry, spray with hairspray.

Sounds messy, but I'm sure my daughter would love it!

Nancy said:

WHY have a pattern? Let the child paint with the glue. THEN use a shaker from the kitchen or a tea strainer, or a Parmesan cheese shaker. The less we do, the more they learn.
