Halloween Goo
ages 1-6
Supplies
Water, glue, Borax
Activity Detail
Combine the ingredients listed to make a squishable, oozy material. This is great at Halloween! It can be placed in a wicker basket in a doorway, and it will ooze out. Or place it in a container and have kids feel it while blindfolded. If the material gets on clothes, vinegar will take it out. If it gets in hair, use mayonnaise to break it up. Directions -- Bowl 1: Combine 2 cups water with 1 1/2 cups glue. Bowl 2: Mix 2 cups water with 4 tablespoons Borax. Dissolve thoroughly. Slowly add contents of Bowl 2 to Bowl 1. It is possible that the mixture will "gel" without adding the entire contents of Bowl 2.

I especially like the tips on removal from clothes and hair. We'll need them!

The inclusion of borax in this activity, especially with younger kids who like to put things in their mouths involved, put me off. Though I'm not entirely certain, can't borax be toxic for kids?

You can make an easy goo with just corn starch and water. It has a solid and liquid/oozing effect and its nontoxic. Just look up the recipe online. It's also called oobleck.
