Activity Detail

At a birthday party or special event, this game is sure to be a hit. Get a bag of marshmallows, some string, a safety pin, and a whipped cream, like Cool Whip. Take the string and cut about a 2 foot piece. Put a knot at the end, and at the opposite end place the safety pin. Take the end with the safety pin and run it through the middle of the marshmallow until you get the marshmallow to the knot. Then take the marshmallow with string and swipe it through the whipped cream so you have a big blob on it. Have your child either stand or kneel (if they are older) and explain that without using their hands they have to catch the marshmallow in their mouth while you swing the marshmallow back and forth using the string. We prepare a whole bunch of marshmallows beforehand and remove the safety pin from the string. Right before playing the game, we swipe the marshmallows in the whipped cream. Kids of all sizes love this game. It's recommended to do this game outdoors in the summer with kids in bathing suits -- this way they can run in a sprinkler or be hosed down to clean off because they sure do get messy!
