Christmas Tree Cones
ages 2-6
Supplies
Ice cream cones (sugar cones), 1 tub of white icing, green food coloring, variety of sprinkles.
Activity Detail
A fun Christmas-time snack! Begin by taking a container of white icing and adding enough green food coloring to turn the icing the color of green you wish to use for the Christmas trees. Then, turn some sugar ice cream cones upside down, so that the point is up. Cover the entire cone with green icing. Here's the fun part: Let your kids decorate the "trees" with sprinkles, nonpareils, chocolate chips, M&Ms, and any other fun treats your child thinks will make a good ornament.
Comments
For an alternative, use green-colored whipped cream cheese instead of frosting. Not all kids like it, but it's a tasty combo with the sugar cone. Also reduces the total sugar in the treat. Just be sure to refrigerate the trees when you are done!

My children loved this. They could not have had more fun building and eating it!

This activity can be done at any time of year. We use white icing, and my daughter creates "unicorn horns." Let your child decide what the cone will be -- their imaginations are boundless.
